How to Light Up Your Home Outside of Christmas

How to Light Up Your Home Outside of Christmas

Hey guys! I hope your year is off to a great start so far! Back at the North Pole, things are picking up again after our short vacation. There’s so much work to do every year, and that includes making sure the workshop is lit up all year long. This, actually, brings me to today’s topic: how to light up your home outside of Christmas. Is that something that can be done, and is it something that you should do?

If you’re going to light up your home outside of Christmas, there are several things you should do right away including planning, purchasing, and pitching.

Step 1: Planning

Let’s talk about your plan first. Does it take into consideration each of the seasons? For example, some people love to decorate their houses for Halloween. Their displays include lots of creative home lighting setups and designs. Others like to get into the spirit of Mardi Gras with seasonal displays that are downright amazing.

These two are great, but did you know that you can also decorate your home for the 4th of July? It’s a small but growing trend across the country. Regardless of the holiday, as more and more people consider permanent lighting, you’ll want to decide first if you’re happy with lighting the same parts of your house for each season.

Of course, lighting your home can also include situations like installing permanent lighting fixtures over your patio with stylish Edison Bulbs. These are different than Christmas lights but still, fall under the general idea of lighting your home. Does your patio have the necessary space, outside outlets, and attachment points to create your dream patio setup? What kind of design do you want? Some homeowners love a cross pattern over their heads while others have different ideas for their patios. Will you ever host a large event in your backyard, such as a wedding or block party?

I guess to sum this up, this part of the process involves making decisions on what you want. And as someone who has lots of great ideas running around in their head all the time, trust me, It’s hard for me to make decisions. I know what you’re going through! Having a plan can help you make the right decision so that your lights are exactly what you’re looking for.

Step 2: Purchasing

While this particular step will actually come after step 3, I’m mentioning it now because I want you to start thinking in these terms. When the team at Twinkle Nights start hanging displays for their customers, they make it a point to only use the best parts and accessories. They don’t use off-the-shelf components from the local hardware store or a big-box retailer.

Instead, each holiday light strand is rated for outdoor use. They also use high-grade clips that can withstand whatever mother nature throws at them.

However, those are temporary lighting setups. They often involve cords running across the yard to other displays. The difference today is that we’re talking about permanent lighting options, which won’t work with extension cords long term.

So, another purchase item will involve making sure you have the proper power set up to support your year-round lighting displays and permanent lighting fixtures.

I’m sure this one had you a bit confused, and that’s okay. Did you know that “pitch” is another term for a sales call? Think about it in a TV show context. When a producer wants to convince a network to pick up their show, they develop a pitch and present it to the executives.

Now, I’m going to be honest with you, I’m kinda bending the rules of this one just a little bit. You’re not necessarily making a sales call. Rather, you’re contacting a company for them to come to your house and make a sales pitch to you.

What am I getting at? It’s best to talk to a professional who can help you plan all of these. They’ll help you with your plan or goals, discuss with you the perfect layout, talk about what kind of hardware and power needs you’re going to have, and help you make the best decision possible. Yes, it’s a pitch: you’re telling them your ideas. In turn, they’ll present you with the options to give you what you want.
